The Green-Whites host RB Leipzig at the Weserstadion on Saturday, 10.05.25, for their last home fixture of the campaign (kick-off 15:30 CEST). SVW will be hoping to make use of everything at their disposal, both on and off the pitch, in order to collect all three points on their own patch. Read our match preview to find out how they will be looking to do just that.
Team news: Milos Veljkovic has returned to training after recovering from muscle problems; however, Saturday’s fixture comes too soon for him to make an appearance due to a lack of sessions.
Ole Werner on the opponent: “Leipzig also have targets they are trying to reach and both teams will be looking for three points as a result. We also had the intention of winning the past couple games but cannot focus on those because we face different opposition now. They possess an individual quality which sets them apart from other teams in the division. They changed a couple of things when the new coach came in, focusing more on the sole players, while pressing high and attempting varied passing sequences. Nevertheless, each game is different on the whole. We need to demonstrate our own capabilities if we are to leave the field as the winning side.”
Departing players: A total of six Werder players will be given official send-offs ahead of kick-off. Alongside loan players Issa Kaboré and André Silva, Oliver Burke, Anthony Jung, Abdenego Nankishi and Milos Veljkovic are all set to leave the club.
Walking a tightrope: Five Green-Whites face being forced to miss the final day fixture away to 1. FC Heidenheim should they pick up a yellow card at home to Leipzig. Niklas Stark received his fourth caution of the season last time out at Union Berlin, while Romano Schmid and Oliver Burke each also have four bookings to their name. Senne Lynen and Jens Stage have both received nine yellows so far this term.

Recent meetings: One could say that the past record against RBL provides room for improvement, seeing as the Green-Whites have emerged victorious from just two of 15 previous clashes, most recently winning 2-1 on the final day of the 2018/19 season. Three draws and 10 defeats complete the look of the head-to-head standings. Despite goals from Mitchell Weiser and Oliver Burke in the reverse fixture, Leipzig still ran out 4-2 victors.
Fan march: As has been the case in previous years, all fans of the Green-Whites are invited to join the march to the Weserstadion from Bremen’s market square ahead of the last home game of the campaign.
