Tottenham Hotspur made an audacious bid on the deadline day to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, but the offer was rejected immediately.

Spurs have already signed Kevin Danso on loan, but they are still looking to add one or two more players before the end of the window.

According to David Ornstein, Tottenham made an offer to sign the 24-year-old centre-back on a permanent deal.

Palace rejected several offers from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window for Guehi, and this time, they have rejected a big offer from Spurs as they feel they won’t be able to find a suitable replacement so late in the window.

Tottenham are expected to move for Guehi again next summer. He has 18 months remaining on his Palace contract, which runs until 2026.

The Guardian journalist Ed Aarons, reported on X that Spurs submitted a bid of around £70 million for the Palace skipper. It is a tempting offer for any club, but Palace are determined not to lose him today.

Spurs will have to shift their focus on other options available in the market, and one of them could be Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.

Tottenham have already made a loan bid for Disasi, which was accepted by Chelsea, but the player has not said ‘yes’ to the move.

Aston Villa have agreed terms with Disasi over a potential loan move, but they couldn’t agree a deal with Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Villa have stopped making contact to sign Disasi and they are checking on other options. This might open the door for Tottenham to secure his signature in the closing hours of the window.

Guehi is invaluable to Crystal Palace, and the Eagles are determined to keep him. In the summer, Guehi is likely to leave Selhurst Par; the situation will be different as he will have only 12 months remaining on his current deal.
