Fabrizio Romano’s big u-turn in reporting of Chelsea transfer deal is very odd | OneFootball

Those of us watching the events of this transfer window with our eyes wide open would have spotted a big u-turn from Fabrizio Romano last night.

Of course, things can and will always change in football and reporting of transfer deals. Fabrizio Romano is the best in the business.

Sometimes though, things happen and it smells a bit fishy, and the Carney Chukwuemeka situation is one of them.

Romano confirmed late last night that the midfielder is now joining Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season, and the deal will include an option to buy for the German side of over £40m. Of course, it’s highly unlikely that the club will pay that fee. But even still, it was only earlier in the weekend when Romano was telling us that Chelsea were not going to be including any option to buy for Chukwuemeka due to how much they rated him and trusted him for the future.

I guess anyone is rated and trusted for the future, unless there is an opportunity to earn £40m, double what they paid, for a player who doesn’t even get near the starting Xl under Enzo Maresca right now! It’s absolutely madness. Something does not sit well here with me how this story has clearly been briefed. Of course they want to sell him!!

Meanwhile, left back Ben Chilwell does look like he is going to be getting his much needed move away from the club this window after it being very quiet on him and it looking like he was going to be forced to stay at the club until the summer.

The former England international will be having a medical today ahead of joining Crystal Palace on a six month loan deal to see the season out, hopefully reigniting his playing career after a nightmare season so far not even making any squad for Chelsea.
