Lautaro Martinez reminded the world of who he is during November’s international break.

Despite his see-saw form in Serie A, the Inter megastar shrugged off the pressure to dazzle for Argentina.

However, his opener against Paraguay last weekend was in vain as La Albiceleste lost 2-1 in Asuncion.

Unfazed by a poor result on foreign soil, Martinez gave the home fans something to cheer for last night.

His second-half winner helped Lionel Scaloni steady the ship after only overseeing one win in three prior qualifying matches.

More importantly, the reigning world champions have gone five points clear at the top of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying table.

Martinez helped Inter win their 20th Scudetto last term.

Indeed, he bagged 24 goals in Serie A en route to his first Capocannoniere award.

In doing so, the Argentine center-forward entered contention for the Ballon d’Or, only to finish seventh.

However, Diego Milito felt it was unjust.

Instead, he insisted El Toro deserved the prize for his accomplishments with club and country.

Not only had Martinez won the Scudetto last term, but he also inspired Argentina to Copa America glory in the summer.

Somehow, it was only enough for seventh place.

Asked whether he’s still upset about his ranking, Martinez replied: “No, no, that’s done now.

“I’m happy with the seventh place in the end. I was a little disappointed, as I said, but…”

On Milito’s claim he should’ve won it, Martinez said: “No, Diego says that because he loves me a lot.”

As for last night’s triumph, the Inter captain couldn’t contain his joy.

“I’m happy because the ball managed to go in,” he said.

“I tried to be as quick as possible because it was a ball coming back from behind.

“So, nothing -I’m happy because I was able to finish it, and it helped us win.”
