Reports that Paul Pogba is set to train with Manchester United as he plots a return to football are untrue.
Pogba is searching for a new club after his contract at Juventus was terminated by mutual consent this week, with the midfielder to become a free agent on November 30.
The Frenchman is currently banned from football for a doping offence, but will be free to resume training in January. He was initially banned for four years in January but saw his suspension reduced to 18 months on appeal. Pogba can resume playing in March 2025.
Reports this week suggested Manchester United were prepared to offer Pogba the chance to build his fitness at the club’s Carrington training ground. The 31-year-old graduated from the academy set-up at United, before spending six seasons with the club after returning from Juventus in an £89m world record deal in 2016.
However, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that those reports are not true and there has been no contact with Manchester United.
Pogba will train at a base in Miami to build up his fitness as he assesses the next step of his career.
He returned to Juventus for a second spell as a free agent in 2022 but endured a nightmare second stint in Turin. Injuries restricted him to just 12 appearances over the last two seasons before his doping suspension brought a premature end to his time with the club.
