The extent of the injury crisis facing La Liga giants Real Madrid at present has on Saturday been perfectly summarised.

This comes upon taking a look at the central defensive options available to Carlo Ancelotti for the club’s next outing.

Real Madrid are primed to return to action on Sunday evening, when they make the trip to Andalusia for a La Liga meeting with Sevilla.

Los Blancos head into the clash without the services of a whole host of key players, in almost every position on the pitch.

In no area is the issue more of a pressing one, though, than the heart of defence.

Currently in the treatment room at Valdebebas are all of Éder Militão, Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Joan Martínez and, in a fresh addition this week, Raúl Asencio.

This means that the only options at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti to man the centre of defence on Sunday are Jacobo Ramón, Jesús Vallejo, and midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni.
