Paolo Scaroni believes that the ‘vision’ of RedBird Capital is ‘fundamental’ for the future of AC Milan, after the San Siro purchase offer last night.

After a few days of delay due to clauses being resolved, Milan and Inter officially announced last night that they have presented an offer to the City Council for the purchase of San Siro and a surrounding area.

The document contains the proposal for the acquisition of the Giuseppe Meazza and surrounding areas, along with a feasibility plan for constructing a state-of-the-art stadium. The idea is to make it approximately 71,500 seats and open in 2030, in an investment of more than €1bn.

Scaroni spoke during an interview with ANSA to offer some comments on the news that the proposal has now been put forward, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“It is an important step, but it is the first of a journey in which nothing is taken for granted. What is certain is the will and determination of the two clubs in this direction, in which for Milan the strategic vision and concrete commitment of RedBird, which has an international experience in stadiums, have been fundamental,” he said.

“It will be a beautiful stadium: modern, sustainable, but also safe and accessible, ideal for everyone, families and children, for truly healthy support against all crime and violence. A green and innovative project for the benefit of the city and its citizens.”

It must be said that Scaroni has been the face of the confusion regarding the new stadium topic. He stated that San Donato is the number one opportunity, and he even reassured the mayor of the region who had become concerned, but now it is full steam ahead in San Siro.
