The Carrington production line has continued to churn out first-team stars with Toby Collyer, Chido Obi, Harry Amass, and Tyler Fredricson the quartet who have made their senior bows this season.

Ruben Amorim has not been afraid to throw youngsters into the deep end, with the Red Devils ranking second for minutes afforded to teenage stars this season.

More debuts could be in store before the season is out, while the post-season tour of Asia and the club’s pre-season tour is expected to feature even more of the Academy’s finest.

One of them could potentially be Jayden Ngwashi, a 16-year-old centre-back who has already broken through to the U21s team under Travis Binnion.

Ngwashi has immense potential

Despite his young age, the England U17 international has made his U18 as well as U21 debut this term, ultimately making five appearances for Adam Lawrence’s side and a couple for the U21s.

The Peoples Person had already relayed that coaches at Carrington are really impressed with what they have seen so far and he will be accelerated through the age groups.

But The Manchester Evening News have claimed that several top European clubs are ready to pounce given the defender’s Italian passport.

United want to tie him down on a professional contract but Brexit rules state EU players cannot be offered terms before they turn 18, thereby complicating matters for the Red Devils.

“Manchester United youngster Jayden Ngwashi is attracting the interest of top European clubs. Ngwashi made his league debut for the Under-18s at the beginning of March and was handed his debut for the Under-21s just a few weeks later, which proves how highly he is rated.

Foreign clubs circling

“However, Ngwashi is approaching a crossroads in his career as United look to tie him down amid interest from top European sides, who have been tracking his progress this season.

“Brexit rules have impacted which youngsters Premier League clubs can sign, but Ngwashi has an Italian passport, which hasn’t gone unnoticed by a handful of big sides on the continent.”

Ngwashi’s passing ability has been lauded, and he is considered as an “asset to build-up play”. Whether the potential future star gets his head turned remains to be seen.

Should United offer the player a better pathway to the first-team, hopefully it should be enough to convince him to stay at Old Trafford and continue his footballing journey here.

The 16-year-old has played one game for the Italy U16s, the country of his birth, before representing the England U17 side in four international friendlies.
