Barcelona have received positive news about Frenkie de Jong’s fitness. According to journalist Javier Miguel, writing for AS, the Dutch midfielder is in good physical shape and is set to rejoin first-team training on Thursday.
This development makes him available for selection in Barcelona’s upcoming La Liga clash against Celta Vigo.
Concerns about De Jong’s condition arose when the Dutch Football Federation announced his withdrawal from international duty due to “medical reasons.”
However, the midfielder was quick to calm any fears by informing the club that his departure from the national team was purely precautionary and not due to any serious injury.
Upon returning to Barcelona, there was no immediate need for him to undergo extensive evaluations at the club’s Ciutat Esportiva facility.

The club remains cautious, recognising that De Jong’s ankle has caused him ongoing discomfort for over six months. Despite this, he is expected to resume normal training on Thursday, aiming to be fully prepared for the Celta Vigo match.
In addition to De Jong, several other Barcelona players are nearing full recovery and could soon rejoin the squad. Eric Garcia, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Hector Fort are all on the brink of returning after spells on the sidelines.
The coaching staff hopes these players will be ready to travel with the team to Vigo for Saturday’s game.
Among this group, there is particular concern for Yamal. The promising young forward from La Masia has been dealing with a syndesmosis injury in his right ankle, which initially ruled him out for two to three weeks.
The medical team plans to assess his condition in the coming days, and if no setbacks occur, he is likely to make the matchday squad. However, it is expected that he will begin the game on the bench, as the club takes a cautious approach to his reintegration.
