Barcelona bid goodbye to one of their most talented academy talents in Unai Hernandez, as he left the club to sign for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.
The 20-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder had just six months left on his contract and opted to move on instead of signing a new deal with the Catalan giants.
Barcelona have pocketed a fee of €4.5 million from Unai Hernandez’s sale, with another €500,000 in potential add-ons.
Now, SPORT reports that Barcelona have not retained a buyback option or even a percentage of any future transfer fee, as was suggested previously.
Indeed, the Blaugrana have not kept any rights over the player and as such have no control over his future.

Usually, Barcelona insert a buyback clause or even a future sell-on clause while selling talents from their academy – as was the case with Mika Faye in the summer of last year.
However, as far as Unai Hernandez is concerned, there is no percentage of a future sale, nor any preferential option to bring him back in the coming seasons.
Unai, a lifelong Barcelona fan, joined La Masia from Girona in 2022 and enjoyed steady progress in the youth ranks, even being named captain of the Barça Atletic team this season.
However, the attacking midfielder believed that his chances of establishing himself in the first team were slim, leading him to decide on the move to Saudi Arabia, without making a senior appearance for the club.
