Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel (19) is set to join Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports from L’Équipe and RMC Sport.
There is a final twist in the tale in the Tel saga. The Frenchman decided to leave Bayern Munich in search of game time earlier this month and was subsequently the subject of interest from a whole range of Premier League sides. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Tottenham were all interested. The latter even reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for a permanent deal before Tel then rejected a move to the London-based club.
Manchester United then made a concrete approach and despite the player being keen on the move, there was no agreement between the clubs. In the meantime, Tottenham had not given up on the deal, as per L’Équipe. Daniel Levy, despite the initial setback, continued to push for Tel’s arrival and the Frenchman has now been convinced to join.
The format of the deal remains a question mark. RMC Sport understands that it will be a loan deal. L’Équipe, however, believe that there is a possibility that it will be a permanent transfer worth €60m.
