Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was left hanging by Real Madrid counterpart Carlo Ancelotti on the eve of the upcoming Copa del Rey final.

This of course comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding preparations for the Spanish cup showpiece.

Real Madrid and their board have spent the evening to date drumming up nothing short of a storm across the Spanish football landscape.

24 hours out from the latest highly-anticipated Clásico, Los Blancos, first, cancelled all media commitments, as well as the club’s planned open training session.

This was in turn followed by a statement, accusing Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea – the referee for the Copa final – and his team of officials of ‘animosity and hostility towards Real Madrid’.

As much came owing to the comments laid out by the officials in their pre-match press conference earlier today.

Amid alleged efforts to have the entire officiating team for El Clásico overhauled, Florentino Pérez and co. have therefore thrown the entire event into disarray.

So much so that Carlo Ancelotti was advised not to meet up with Barcelona boss Hansi Flick for a planned photo shoot this evening.

As per a report from Helena Condis of COPE:

‘Hansi Flick was waiting for Carlo Ancelotti to take a photo of the coaches, and there Barcelona learned that the events were being suspended.’
