Emerson Royal admits Milan must ‘score more’ against Roma: “We can’t afford to lose” | OneFootball

Ahead of the important game between AC Milan and Roma, Emerson Royal shared his thoughts with the media. Making his seventh consecutive start in the league, the Brazilian is looking to have a positive impact.

Emerson has indeed become one of Paulo Fonseca’s favourites, opting for him rather than the team captain Davide Calabria. The performances haven’t always been brilliant, but the former Tottenham man has certainly improved compared to the start of the season.

Speaking to DAZN before the game, as cited by MilanNews, Emerson shared his thoughts on what will be needed from Milan tonight. He also admitted that the position in the standings is nowhere near where they want to be.

“We have to continue like we have but score more, we are Milan and many teams come here to try to defend themselves. Tonight’s match is one that we can’t afford to lose, just like it was in Verona.

“The standings are not what we wanted but we have to move forward and continue working. We cannot think about previous matches, we have to think about improving, scoring more and staying united.”

On Roma, a difficult opponent…

“They are a good team and they have changed coach and it will not be easy to play against them, but we are Milan.”

On his current form…

“I have good feelings and I’m confident. I’m ready for this evening together with the whole team, let’s go!”.

Tonight’s game is a must-win for the Rossoneri, especially when you consider that many of the rivals dropped points this weekend. Naturally, this has added even more pressure on the players but the hope is that they will be able to respond in a good way.
