Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly an admirer of young Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen.

The Dutch Spaniard is a youth product of Malaga who was poached by Juventus in 2021. Despite finding limited space at Max Allegri’s court last season, the former Bianconeri boss was still impressed by the centre-back’s prowess and calmness at the back, which are unusual traits for a teenager.

“Huijsen entered the game serene and calm, he never played complicated passes and never put his teammate in difficulty,” said Allegri following Huijsen’s Serie A debut against Milan in October 2023. “He reads the game like a great player. He does things like Ciro Ferrara.”

The Spain U21 starlet spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Roma based on the request of Jose Mourinho who was sacked shortly following the defender’s arrival in the Italian capital.

Huijsen eventually sealed a move to Bournemouth who splashed £12.4 million for his services last summer. The 19-year-old has now cemented himself as one of the best revelations of the Premier League campaign, and even managed to score the opener for the Cherries in their 3-0 victory at Old Trafford in December.

So according to Fichajes.net, Amorim saw enough to be convinced by the player’s great potential. He believes the former Juventus man would seamlessly fill in his tactical plans thanks to elegant touch and impeccable reading.

The United management also considers Huijsen as the right profile to complete the defensive department which will require youth blood with Victor Lindelof and Johny Evans heading towards the exit door at the season.

However, the source believes the Red Devils could face competition from Paris Saint-Germain who are also interested in adding the young defender to Luis Enrique’s ranks.
