Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan dodged the question about his future in his latest interview after last night’s 2-2 home draw against Fiorentina. Speaking to Sky Italia via MilanNews, the French star admitted he feels ‘good’ at the San Siro but refused to talk about a contract renewal.
Maignan’s stunning saves to deny Moise Kean twice in the second half helped Milan avoid defeat against Raffaele Palladino’s side. However, another winless outing left them stranded in Serie A’s mid-table, significantly derailing their chances of securing a coveted European qualification.
“It’s true that it doesn’t feel nice because we want to win, and I want to win,” Maignan said. “Every day we work to get high results that a club like Milan deserves. At the moment, we don’t have the wind in our favor. We have to work and believe until the end: we’ll settle the accounts at the end.”
However, when asked to comment on his future at Milan, the ex-Lille stopper dodged a straight answer.
“I feel good at Milan, I give everything for the shirt every time I put it on and every day,” Maignan added. “Right now I’ll tell you the truth, I don’t want to talk about the contract. I want to talk about football and find the right balance. Milan, the team and everyone deserve more. My personal situation is not the most important thing at the moment.”
Maignan’s contract at the club runs out in 2026, but Milan are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal.
