Vicente Moreno, the head coach of Osasuna, expressed confidence on Wednesday ahead of his team’s clash with Barcelona on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Moreno reiterated that Osasuna’s primary goal is to secure safety in La Liga as soon as possible, and he believes his team is capable of achieving it.

Osasuna are currently enduring a tough run, with only one win in their last 15 league matches. Despite this, Moreno remains optimistic as his team prepares for two crucial games – against Barcelona on Thursday and Athletic Club on Sunday.

“These are two huge games that we need to enjoy and play well. Playing against the team that wants to win the league and another aiming for the Champions League is demanding. You have to give your best,” he said.

“It is a challenge for anyone playing against Barcelona. What we need is to trust in ourselves. We have two tough opponents, but we have beaten them this season. We need that confidence to keep doing things well,” Moreno added.

Moreno praised Barcelona, highlighting both their collective strength and individual talent.

“They are a very good team, both collectively and individually. It is a challenge for anyone who plays against them. We need to trust ourselves,” noted the Osasuna boss.

“We have two tough opponents ahead – teams we have already beaten this season – and we need that confidence to perform well,” he said, referring to Osasuna’s first-round victory against Barcelona at El Sadar and their Copa del Rey win over Athletic Club at San Mamés.

The Osasuna head coach then admitted that some elements from their March 8th game plan will still be useful, but adjustments will be made.

“Some things we prepared for the last game still apply, but no two matches are the same,” he explained.

Osasuna, along with Barcelona, had previously appealed the match’s scheduling after it was initially postponed from March 8, but once the new date was confirmed, the team shifted focus to preparing with the available players.

“We appealed the date, but once it was set, we focused on working with the players we have available,” Moreno said.
