Manchester United’s recent run of form and yet another disappointing start to the season has once again put pressure on Erik ten Hag.

Thomas Tuchel, to that end, has emerged as one of the potential candidates to replace ter Hag at Man United.

However, the German tactician has made a clear and concise demand to Man United, if he is to join the Red Devils. His main demand is to sign a Barcelona defender.

Tuchel wants to sign Ronald Araujo

According to Fichajes, Thomas Tuchel has informed Man United that he is interested in taking over the role at Old Trafford, but only if the club sign Ronald Araujo.

Tuchel wants the Uruguayan international to be Man United’s marquee signing in the winter transfer window, as he has identified several flaws in the current defensive setup.

Tuchel, in fact, has already spoken to Araujo, informing his desire to have him in the new project at Manchester United.

The German is a long-time admirer of Araujo. Even during his time at Bayern Munich, Tuchel tried to sign the Barcelona defender.

Barcelona open to Araujo sale

Barcelona, for their part, are attentive to this situation. The club could be tempted to consider a lucrative offer from England, knowing it may go a long way in aiding their coffers.

The report suggests Joan Laporta would be willing to accept any offer reaching the €80 million mark.

It remains to be seen whether or not Man United are willing to match this figure. But one thing is for sure – Araujo’s future at Barcelona is far from secured and it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming months.

For now, the Uruguayan international is working on his recovery. He is expected to return to action by December or early January.
