Theo Hernandez has reportedly demanded an €8m-a-year salary to extend with Milan beyond 2026, but the Rossoneri are unwilling to offer as much and are unhappy with the player’s performances and attitude this season.

Theo Hernandez’s contract talks with Milan stall. The France international has requested a salary of at least €8m per season, almost twice as much as his current wage of €4.5m. His deal expires in June 2026.

Gazzetta reports that Milan’s talks with the player’s entourage started over the summer, but the two parties are nowhere close to reaching an agreement.

The report said the initial salary request was over €8.5m.

Gazzetta also notes that Theo’s demands suggest that he’s in no hurry to reach an agreement or that the French international wants to leave. During the Euros, Theo refused to rule out a Milan exit during the summer transfer window.

Milan are unwilling to match Theo’s demands and make him the highest earner in the team, currently Rafael Leao at €7m per season.

Theo’s latest performances and attitude on the pitch aren’t helping negotiations either.

This past Sunday, he ignored the penalty hierarchy against Fiorentina and took a spot-kick instead of Christian Pulisic, missing the chance to score and infuriating his coach Paulo Fonseca.

Furthermore, after the final whistle, he was sent off for dissent, receiving a two-match ban in Serie A and a fine from his club.

Gazzetta says that Milan are waiting to see improvements on the pitch as Theo must deserve a new contract.
