Barcelona’s recent game against Sevilla witnessed the Blaugrana bridge the gap at the top of the league table, thanks to a comprehensive 4-1 victory.
However, Barcelona were dealt a major blow in between as star defender Ronald Araujo picked up a knock and had to be replaced in the 22nd minute of the game.
Araujo was replaced by Pau Cubarsi after the Uruguayan international struggled to continue the proceedings. This raised immediate worries within the Barcelona camp.
In the post-match presser, Hansi Flick confirmed that a final confirmation regarding Araujo’s injury will have to wait a day, once tests are carried out.
A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered an update on the fitness of Araujo, confirming that the defender will undergo tests at Ciutat Esportiva on Monday.

These tests will determine the extent of the defender’s injury, but the reports suggest the player is estimated to be sidelined for a period of up to three weeks.
This could prove to be a major blow for Barcelona, considering the fact that Hansi Flick is already missing out on the services of another key defender, Andreas Christensen.
Not to mention, Inigo Martinez had been struggling with a knock and had recently come back from an injury. Keeping that in mind, Barcelona would hope Araujo comes back to full fitness as soon as possible.
However, these are merely estimates and the final outcome will only come later today when the test results of Araujo’s diagnosis are revealed.
