The start of the 2024-25 season has seen several FC Barcelona players take a step up in their game. The entire team seems to have improved over the last season, as is clear from the team’s results in La Liga up to this point in the campaign.

But some of the individuals are also showing a great improvement in their game. This is particularly the case with Robert Lewandowski, who is once again performing as one of the best strikers in Europe, and Inigo Martinez, who has emerged as one of the leaders of this Barcelona defense and has not given any reason for Flick to miss the likes of Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen.

Another player who has clearly taken his game a further notch upwards is the Brazilian winger Raphinha. The Canarinha forward has already scored six goals and provided eight assists in his twelve appearances up to now, and is forming a truly terrifying attack with Lewandowksi and Lamine Yamal.

The Brazilian is also emerging as one of the leaders of the team and is now one of the captains for this season. It was not surprising to see him take to the microphones ahead of a crucial game against Bayern Munich.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, one of the subjects that the Barcelona forward addressed in this presser was Gavi’s return from his lengthy injury layoff. The former Leeds United winger showed a lot of happiness for his teammate’s return, while also expressing some concern about his situation:

“He’s a pretty affectionate guy. He’s an incredible person; seeing everything that has happened after his injury is quite moving, especially to see Gavi back playing with this shirt. We are all very happy for him, but also concerned because we know how Gavi performs in matches.”

It is clear that Gavi is still not at 100% and needs more minutes on the pitch to get back to his best. However, Raphinha’s concern is justified, as Gavi once again demonstrated his reckless style at the very moment of his return. His first action in the game against Sevilla was not a pass or a shot, but a tackle on an opposition player, which the referee deemed a foul.

Therefore, the Spanish midfielder needs to channel his energy and be more careful with his actions, at least in this early phase of his return from such a lengthy injury.
