FC Barcelona Femení forward Claudia Pina will be sidelined for around 15 days after suffering a muscle strain in the soleus of her left leg. The club confirmed the injury through a medical statement, ruling the player out of several key fixtures.
Pina sustained the injury during Barcelona’s 4-1 victory over Valencia CF Femenino in Liga F. The 23-year-old came on as a substitute for Kika Nazareth in the 62nd minute, but in the 82nd minute, she fell to the ground, visibly in pain.
This injury will sideline Pina for several matches, including the Copa de la Reina second leg against Real Madrid Femenino next Wednesday, as well as the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarterfinals against Wolfsburg Women.
While Barcelona Femení boast a wealth of talent in their squad, Pina’s absence comes at an inopportune time as they gear up for crucial domestic and European fixtures.
In addition to missing the Copa de la Reina match and first leg of UWCL quarterfinals, Pina will also sit out the upcoming league match against Costa Adeje Tenerife W.
Her recovery timeline suggests that she may be back in time for the return leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final against Wolfsburg Women at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, should all go to plan. Fans and teammates will be hoping for a swift recovery as Pina continues to recover from her injury.
