Alexander Isak has emerged as one of the most talked-about names in the transfer market for next season. His exceptional performances and impressive goal-scoring record with Newcastle United have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several top clubs.
Among those closely monitoring his situation are Barcelona, who are actively assessing potential centre-forwards to lead their attack in the coming years.
Despite being under contract with Newcastle until 2028, there remains a possibility that he could move in the future. While financial factors will play a significant role in any potential transfer, the player’s personal preferences could also influence the decision.
Barcelona are looking for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, and Isak’s name is on their radar as they explore viable options.
However, one challenge Barcelona might face in pursuing Isak—aside from his high transfer value—is his known admiration for Real Madrid.
In a past interview with Sky Sports, which was later highlighted by Spanish media, the Swedish striker expressed his appreciation for Madrid and its footballing culture.
When discussing the toughest opponent he has ever faced, Isak singled out Sergio Ramos, praising the defender’s physicality and resilience. “Sergio Ramos [is the toughest opponent I have faced]. He is very tough defending, he’s very physical.”
Additionally, when asked about the most impressive stadium he has played in, he pointed to the Santiago Bernabeu, describing it as an incredible venue and a remarkable experience.
“Probably the Bernabeu. It is very beautiful, an impressive stadium and playing there was a great experience,” he noted.
His admiration for Madrid could work in favour of Los Blancos if they ever consider signing him in the future.
However, with Real Madrid’s attacking options already stacked following the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick this summer, a move at this stage appears unlikely.
