Manchester United’s prize for knocking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City out of the FA Cup is a home tie against Marco Silva’s Fulham at Old Trafford.

It took a controversial last gasp Harry Maguire header to see off the Foxes in round four in what was another lacklustre display in front of home support.

However, United’s defence of the trophy continues with Ruben Amorim hoping to guide his team to their third consecutive final.

As confirmed by manutd.com, Fulham will travel to Old Trafford on Sunday, March 2nd for a 16:30 GMT kick-off.

Despite Fulham being seven points clear of United in the league, Amorim’s men will fancy their chances against a team they have already beaten twice this season.

Joshua Zirkee’s late winner on the opening day of the campaign feels a lifetime ago but did get United off to the perfect start under Erik ten Hag in the Premier League.

It was a similar story in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage which needed a deflected long range strike from Lisandro Martinez to separate the sides and grant United a hard fought 1-0 win in the capital.

The two teams also have recent history in the cup with United coming from behind to beat the Londoners on their way to the 2023 final.

Fulham’s implosion rather gifted United the win on the day with both Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic seeing red for the visitors, who were 1-0 up with just 15 minutes left on the clock.

However, a Bruno Fernandes double either side of Marcel Sabitzer’s smart finish meant it was United who secured safe passage to the semi-final on a dramatic day at Old Trafford.

Amorim will bee hoping for a similar outcome in March with the FA Cup representing arguably his best opportunity of a trophy this season.

With high-flying Liverpool and Arsenal already knocked out, along with traditional top six sides Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, United are now amongst the favourites for the crown.

However, Fulham will be out for revenge and have a side capable of causing any team problems on their day, meaning United will have to be at their best to progress to the quarter-finals, particularly given the recent performance levels at Old Trafford.
