Manchester City are now in advanced negotiations with the representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, according to reports in Germany.

The Premier League champions are believed to be eyeing up to three signings in the ongoing January transfer window as the club prepare to bring in a fresh generation of talents into the Etihad Stadium for the final two years of Pep Guardiola’s contract.

Among the positions likely to be addressed this month are central defence, as Manchester City targets Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov, as well as central midfield, with Atalanta’s Ederson holding admiration from within the club.

However, the attacking line is now expected to become the club’s top priority after City felt as though they could do a deal for one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga, with Omar Marmoush of Eintracht Frankfurt seemingly open to a move.

And now, a deal has taken a significant step in the right direction after it emerged on Wednesday that officials within the Etihad Stadium had reached an advanced level of conversation with the representatives of the player regarding a move this month.

According to the information of Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, ‘concrete negotiations’ are currently taking place between Manchester City and the management of Eintracht Frankfurt forward, Omar Marmoush.

It is explained that discussions on the player’s side of a potential deal are now ‘advanced’, but crucially a ‘full verbal agreement’ between all parties on either side of the conversations has not yet been reached.

From the perspective of the 25-year-old, it is now reported that while the Egyptian forward ‘loves’ Eintracht Frankfurt, he is open to an immediate transfer to Manchester City in the ongoing January transfer window as it represents a ‘unique opportunity’ for him.

As for the Premier League champions, Plettenberg reports that City are offering Marmoush a long-term contract until either 2029 or 2030, although there are currently no negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt yet, who will be demanding between €50 million and €60 million.

It remains to be seen just how difficult conversations between Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City will be over a player that has been so crucial to the first-half success of the German club this season.

The Bundesliga side are currently positioned third in the German top-flight, and with ambitions of qualifying for UEFA Champions League football for next season, Frankfurt will be desperate to keep hold of their best talents.

However, after a stellar first-half to the campaign that has seen the player score a remarkable 13 goals and provide eight assists in just 15 Bundesliga appearances, it is likely that City may feel this is an opportunity they simply must take advantage of given their own struggles.
