Hansi Flick has undoubtedly exceeded all the expectations that were placed on him when he was appointed as the head coach of the FC Barcelona team that had ended the last season without any trophies.
The German coach has won the domestic treble and led his team to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in his first season in charge. While these achievements are impressive in themselves, they take on an even more praiseworthy character when seen in the context of the difficulties that the Blaugrana coach had to face throughout this season.
One of these difficulties was the Catalan club’s lack of ability to make many signings from the market, as their FFP constraints made it difficult to register many new players.
In such a scenario, Flick decided to bet on La Masia talent, and his trust in the academy graduates has provided amazing returns for him.
However, as is usually the case with the German coach, he put in the required effort to study the club’s youth academy and the reserve team before the start of the season to ensure a seamless adaptation of the youngsters to the first team.

Apparently, Hansi Flick is once again going to have a lot of influence on the reserve team in the future as well, as SPORT reports that he wants to apply some of the methods of physical preparation that he employs for the first team to Barcelona Atletic as well.
The German trainer believes that improvements in this aspect can help reserve team players arrive more ready to play with the first team. Other than that, from his very first days at the Blaugrana club, Flick has been impressed by the level shown by La Masia players.
For the future, the Barcelona head coach wants to continue giving opportunities to the most promising talents in the youth academy, and wants these players to progress in the most comprehensive way.
