Don Goodman has told FLW his verdict on Crystal Palace and Fulham's interest in Danny Rohl

Don Goodman expects Danny Rohl to depart Sheffield Wednesday this summer but doesn’t believe he’ll be at Crystal Palace or Fulham amid links to the Premier League clubs.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Philipp Hinze, the 36-year-old is attracting interest from the two London outfits.

It is believed that Rohl has an exit option in his contract worth seven figures, with Leicester City and Southampton also monitoring his situation.

The Sheffield Wednesday boss also has interest from the Bundesliga, but it’s understood a move within England is seen as the likelier option at this stage.

Goodman doesn’t expect Rohl to move to Crystal Palace or Fulham due to the good work being done by Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva at their respective clubs.

However, he believes a move to Southampton could be on the cards given the stability they can provide that hasn’t been given to the manager at Sheffield Wednesday under Dejphon Chansiri.

“I think it’s all great news for Danny Rohl that the likes of Fulham and Crystal Palace will be reported admirers,” Goodman exclusively told Football League World

“But they have two phenomenal coaches, don’t they really, in Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner, so I don’t think those jobs will be available any time soon unless either of those are head-hunted.

“I’m not sure he’s still going to be at Sheffield Wednesday, particularly if Dejphon Chansiri is still there.

“It’s highly unlikely.

“The links with Southampton appear to be the strongest ones.

“It would be, in the current climate, a more stable opportunity for somebody like Danny Rohl.”

Sheffield Wednesday finished 12th in the Championship table under Rohl, coming within 10 points of the play-off places after earning a 20th place result in the previous campaign.

Losing Rohl would be a huge blow for Sheffield Wednesday

It’s no surprise that Rohl is a man in demand given the impressive job he’s done in turning things around at Hillsborough.

When he took over around 18 months ago, the club were heading straight for relegation to League One after a miserable start to life back in the Championship.

But he oversaw their miraculous recovery to 20th in the table, again improving the side this season to see them earn a top half finish, all while working with limited resources and a strained relationship with the owner.

Chansiri’s popularity among the supporters, which is already quite low, will take an even further hit if Rohl does leave this summer.
