FLW rounds-up the latest transfer news surrounding Jamie Vardy.
Talk is beginning to ramp up about where Jamie Vardy will be playing his football after he rounded off his Leicester City career in style last weekend.
The Foxes icon signed off his 500th game at the King Power Stadium with his 200th goal, netting the opening strike in their 2-0 win over Ipswich Town in the 28th minute.
The clash against the Tractor Boys spelled an end to his 13-year stint in the East Midlands, arguably decorating himself as the greatest player to ever represent the Foxes due to his regular goalscoring exploits and immense loyalty to the cause.
Vardy won’t play any part in Leicester’s final Premier League game of the season at Bournemouth this upcoming weekend, leaving the club to fight their own way back to the top-flight, but Vardy insists he can still do a job for a club in England’s elite division heading into next season.
There’s been plenty of speculation fueling as to where Vardy’s next club will be, and Football League World rounds-up the latest transfer talk surrounding the 38-year-old.
As per Football Insider, FA Cup winners Crystal Palace are keen to lure Jamie Vardy to Selhurst Park this summer, and have made contact with the frontman over a short-term deal.
Palace are keen on recruiting the experienced Vardy as they look to add to their squad to help combat their Europa League campaign next season, and feel the marksman will offer strong competition to the likes of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah.
Football Insider also reported earlier in the month that Wolves were plotting a swoop for the Premier League frontman, but Crystal Palace have taken a big step to earning his signature when the summer transfer window opens.
Community Director of Wrexham, Humphrey Ker, has rubbished speculation that the Welsh side are interested in a move for Jamie Vardy.
Back in the Championship for the first time in 43 years, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is looking to strengthen his squad and has been linked with a host of experienced players, including the former Fleetwood Town forward.
Speaking on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X (reported by The Leader) Ker distanced the club away from the Vardy rumours, along with moves for the likes of Patrick Bamford and Tom Cairney.
Moyles: “Can I ask you some questions from our lovely listeners?”
Ker: “Please.”
Moyles: “Alright. Alan says, ‘Have Wrexham signed Jamie Vardy?'"
Ker: “No.”
Moyles: “Okay. Are you looking at Jamie Vardy?”
Ker: “No.”
Legendary footballer Paul Gascoigne has urged Jamie Vardy to move to Rangers during the summer transfer window, insisting the 38-year-old would be a regular source of goals at Ibrox.
Reported by the Daily Record, the former Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder has talked up a sensational move for Vardy to Scotland, with the Gers in talks over a takeover between Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises.
Gascoigne said: "He’s been a brilliant servant to Leicester and when you see him playing, you wouldn't think he's that age.
"Vardy seems like the type of guy who’s got his head screwed on and I don’t think he has many problems.
"Rangers are a tough team to play for. They expect you to be winning every game.
"But I’m sure he’d score some goals up there. Easy, no problem. Especially because he’s still got that pace."
It proves to be an intriguing battle between a raft of different clubs to see who Vardy will sign on the dotted line with, but you have to think a Premier League move is still the preferred option at this stage.
