‘Leader in world football’ – Bayern boss Kompany hails Barcelona youngster | OneFootball

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has moved to reveal his appreciation for the talents of Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí.

This, of course, comes ahead of the upcoming meeting between the two sides.

Barcelona are set to act as hosts tomorrow evening, in a highly-anticipated Champions League showdown with Bayern in Catalunya’s capital.

The aforementioned Cubarsí, meanwhile, is expected to feature from the off once more.

Still just 17 years of age, the Spanish starlet has already established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet in Catalunya’s capital.

Cubarsí was in sparkling form once more over the weekend, shining on both sides of the ball as Barcelona made short work of Sevilla in La Liga.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of the stopper was put to the aforementioned Vincent Kompany.

And Bayern Munich’s headmaster – a one-time defensive great in his own right – made use of the opportunity to wax lyrical about Cubarsí:

“He’s one of the future defensive leaders in world football for sure. Not just playing for Barça, but against the level of opposition at his age is very special and very rare.”
