Manchester United teenage midfielder Ruben Curley is reportedly undergoing a medical at Stoke City ahead of a permanent switch to the club.
Curley is out of contract at the end of the season, though United have an option to extend his terms.
He has made seven appearances in Premier League 2 this season, as well as featuring once in the EFL Trophy.
Earlier today, it was claimed that Stoke expressed an interest in signing Curley but United rejected their approach.
It seemed like Curley was poised to remain at United for the second half of the campaign but according to Peter O’Rourke of Football Insider, the Red Devils have performed a dramatic U-turn.
According to O’Rourke, “Stoke City have resurrected a move for Manchester United midfielder Ruben Curley.”
“The player is now having his medical at the club ahead of a permanent move to the bet365 Stadium.”
“The Potters initially had an approach rejected earlier in the day, but they have since arranged tests, indicating progress toward securing the deal.”
The report notes that the fact a medical is currently taking place almost certainly suggests Stoke are pressing forward with their efforts to get a transfer over the line before the close of the winter transfer window at 11pm UK time.
Stoke are currently 18th in the Championship table and are eager to bolster their squad options to avoid the possibility of relegation.
Curley has made 41 appearances during his time in the United academy, registering three goals and four assists.
He has never lined up for the senior team.
