Aurelien Tchouameni arrived at Real Madrid from Monaco in the summer of 2022. In a short time, he did manage to solidify his position in the squad. However, the recent dip in his performance has raised questions over his long-term sustainability.

Tchouameni has featured in 23 games in the ongoing season and has no direct goal contribution so far. He is averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 1.6 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Frenchman mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but is versatile enough to be deployed as a centre-back. He has good physicality, shot-blocking techniques, and does timely tackles. He is also comfortable on the ball, distributing the possession effectively.
Manchester City have made some notable moves in the winter window to fix the woes within their squad. However, they aren’t looking to stop there as they plan to make further steps. The club has reportedly made more funds available to spend to sign players.
One of the names that has emerged is Aurelien Tchouameni as the Citizens need a fill for Rodri. The Frenchman could be a great addition for many years to come. He can be deployed in the midfield or even used in the backline.
However, it remains to be seen if the Whites will be open to selling the 24-year-old or not. Even if they agree to negotiate, the player won’t come cheap. Real Madrid signed him for £85m, which should be the benchmark for offloading the midfielder to other clubs.
