Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal are both looking to shake off weekend losses as they head into the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal clash. But it’s Arsenal who may have a bit more reason for optimism.
PSG fell 2-1 to RC Strasbourg on Saturday at Stade de la Meinau, conceding twice in the first half. Bradley Barcola pulled one back after the break, but despite the push in the second half, the Ligue 1 leaders couldn’t find an equalizer. It marked their second straight league loss.
Arsenal, meanwhile, also lost 2-1—this time at home to Bournemouth. The Gunners went ahead early at Emirates Stadium but conceded twice in the second half. Still, with the Champions League tie hanging in the balance, manager Mikel Arteta shared a positive update on the fitness of two key players.

On Tuesday, Arteta spoke to the media ahead of the second leg and shared the status of Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori.
“I will assess [Timber] today, whether he can start the game or not,” Arteta said (h/t Arsenal). “[Calafiori has] travelled, and he’s fit and he’s ready to play when we need him. So that’s great news obviously.”
