Nicola Zalewski started for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A clash with Torino.

The 23-year-old was one of a number of players to come into the Nerazzurri starting eleven. Coach Simone Inzaghi felt the necessity to rotate after Tuesday’s Champions League win over Barcelona.

Zalewski started in something of an usual role within Inter’s system.

The Polish international played in an attacking midfield role rather than his usual wingback position. He initially played on the left in attack, but also switched sides with Joaquin Correa at times.

Nicola Zalewski certainly demonstrated what he can bring to Inter with his performance this evening.

The Pole scored Inter’s opener. It was his first goal for the Nerazzurri, and it was a fine way to open his account as he jinked inside then curled the ball perfectly into the far corner.

Zalewski is currently on loan at Inter from Roma. However, the Nerazzurri have the option to make the move a permanent one.

Inter signed the 23-year-old on loan in the January window. But they also included a purchase option worth €6-7 million, according to reports.

And Zalewski certainly showed why they might want to sign him outright this evening.

After the match, the Pole commented “Let’s say it’s not hard to feel at ease in this team.”

“I’ve always shown my desire to stay and play in this shirt,” he went on.

Zielinski said that “I feel great with my teammates and the fans.”

“I want to stay here,” he added. “Now the ball is in the court of the club.”
