Last season, the Los Angeles Galaxy had lost twice to their rival, LAFC. This season, newcomers San Diego FC have won the first two meetings against the six-time MLS Cup winners.

What looked to be a 1-1 draw, the visiting LA Galaxy had their teeth kicked in at the 5th minute of stoppage time in the second half.

Anders Dreyer scored the two goals in the season opener against the LA Galaxy. On Saturday, his laser pass set up Hirving Lozano for the decisive game winner with just minutes left in the contest.

Two major notables in the LA Galaxy's Starting XI

Novak Micovic was given the start in goal as veteran keeper John McCarthy was listed as a substitute. Micovic was in goal for the season opener against San Diego FC.

The team lost twice more before McCarthy took over. The LA Galaxy have now lost all four games this season that Micovic has started, twice against the newcomers, San Diego FC.

Marco Reus had his third assist this month on a nice pass to Diego Fagundez. Normally a midfielder, Fagundez started up top with Reus and Gabriel Pec. Joseph Paintsil played ahead of that line, closest to the opposing goal.

Leading scorer Christian Ramirez was left out of the starting lineup, again. He has four scores on the year. That accounted for half of the Los Angeles Galaxy's total before entering the month of May.

Against the Philadelphia Union and LAFC, the LA Galaxy scored twice. Saturday marked the third game in a row that they scored first, as well.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are still winless after 15 games this season. They are adding on to the record they set three games ago.

Ramirez came into the game at the 73rd minute. San Diego FC's Loca de la Torre notched the game up quickly at one a piece. Jeppe Tverskov was credited with the assist.

However, his presence wasn't enough for the LA Galaxy to score one more time. Instead, Hirving Lozano scored off a precise pass from Anders Dreye.

Dreyer has become one of the LA Galaxy's biggest thorns. He scored both goals in the season opener giving San Diego FC their first win of the year and in franchise history.

Next up for the Galaxy is San Jose. They will host the Earthquakes in another installment of California Clasico at Dignity Health Sports Park on Wednesday evening.
