Paris Saint-Germain will face Premier League leaders Liverpool in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. PSG made light work of Stade Brestois in the knockout play-off round, securing a 10-0 aggregate win, but now they’re up against a much tougher opponent.

Following Friday’s draw, Marquinhos, who played against Liverpool in the 2018 group stage, shared his thoughts on the matchup in an interview with PSG TV.

Florent Sinama-Pongolle discussed PSG’s upcoming Champions League tie in Le Parisien and highlighted the threats from Liverpool, particularly Luis Díaz.

“Liverpool’s key players? Aside from Mo Salah, Ryan Gravenberch stands out,” Sinama-Pongolle noted (h/t Le10Sport). “He has incredible qualities that allow him to control the midfield. Having a coach who speaks his language has been a huge help.

“Alongside Alexis Mac Allister, they form a really solid duo and work great together. These two give the team a lot of confidence. In attack, I also have to mention Luis Díaz—he’s a real threat and gives everything he’s got every time.”

Despite the challenge of facing Liverpool over 180 minutes, PSG manager Luis Enrique seems ready to take on the task of defeating the favorites to win this season’s Champions League, responding confidently when asked about the draw.

The first leg will be on March 4 at the Parc des Princes and the return leg will be on March 11 at Anfield. PSG will need to take advantage of the home ground and the young squad must be prepared to handle the pressure on the road if they want to advance.
