Santiago Gimenez (23) has reportedly set his sights on a winter transfer to AC Milan, as per reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via VoetbalPrimeur). The Italians are said to have already reached an agreement in principle with the Feyenoord striker.
The Italian outlet has suggested Gimenez will let Feyenoord know ‘in the coming hours’ that he wants to make the switch to the Rossoneri.
It is no secret that the Mexican is highly thought of at the San Siro. On the last day of the summer transfer period, Milan were prepared to move for the forward. However, they ran out of time and money and were unsuccessful in their bids to convince Feyenoord.
It is understood that the Rotterdam club won’t let Gimenez go without a fight. In principle, the team from De Kuip will only accept anything in the region of 40 million euros for one of their star players.
Currently too much for Milan, the club could meet Feyenoord’s wishes with a drawn out deal, which would allow forty million euros to be transferred to Rotterdam over a sustained period.
The expectation is that agent Rafaela Pimenta and father Christian Gimenez will now actively interfere in the negotiations, so that the transfer can be realised. Gimenez and Milan are said to have already agreed on the contract terms. That was ‘easy’, because the Mexican would earn less than one million euros net in De Kuip.
