Milan President Paolo Scaroni assures Kyle Walker ‘wants to win’ at San Siro, but warns fans that he is ‘not sure we will be able to guarantee’ a new striker in January.
The match with Parma kicks off at San Siro at 11.30 GMT.
Although he is not part of the squad this afternoon, Walker just completed his transfer from Manchester City and is seated alongside special advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the touchline.
“I met with Walker on Thursday and I can assure you he is a player accustomed to winning, who wants to win, he will add passion and strength to our Milan,” Scaroni told DAZN.
After bringing in a new full-back, the Rossoneri are also looking to sign a new centre-forward, specifically targeting Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
However, the message from the President when asked about their negotiations for a hitman were far from reassuring.

“The January transfer window is always a difficult one, so I am not sure we will be able to guarantee the reinforcement upfront this month. We’ll see, I just spoke to Giorgio Furlani, who takes care of these things,” replied Scaroni.
“We already have strength in the squad, as do not forget we just won the Supercoppa Italiana, where nobody considered us to be the favourites. We want to be strong in Serie A too, where we had some performances that were not always entirely satisfactory.”
Despite the change of coach with Sergio Conceicao taking over from Paulo Fonseca on December 30, a large section of the Milan ultras continue to loudly protest during every match.
Specifically, they sing for patron Gerry Cardinale and RedBird to sell up and leave the club.
“We want the fans to support the team, that is what we all want and so does Gerry Cardinale, the players and the coach,” noted Scaroni.
“I hope everyone can be behind Milan, because we need the support of our fans at San Siro, where the performances in Serie A have not always been satisfactory. That is what I hope and I am sure the fans will listen to that appeal.”
