Three factors may determine whether the Whites can seal a permanent deal for Joe Rothwell.

Leeds United may have to fork out £7.5m to lure AFC Bournemouth-owned midfielder Joe Rothwell to Elland Road permanently.

This is according to TEAMtalk, with this report coming after Rothwell's comments on his future in West Yorkshire on deadline day.

Speaking on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, the midfielder commented on how hard it's been for him to be away from his family, with his relatives staying down south whilst he has been at Leeds.

The 30-year-old also revealed that he was uncertain regarding his future, which may create more speculation in the coming days and weeks about where he will end up next season.

Having been deemed temporarily surplus to requirements by the Cherries, he made a season-long loan move to Elland Road, where he has featured fairly regularly.

It's fair to say that he hasn't started every game, with the player being an unused substitute against Coventry City on Wednesday night, but he has still been able to make some valuable contributions.

He was particularly important when Leeds endured an injury crisis in the middle of the park, with the likes of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev being ruled out of action at that point.

Three conditions could determine whether Joe Rothwell secures Leeds United move

If Leeds are to sign Rothwell, they would need to secure promotion to the Premier League, with the player earning £30,000 per week at the Vitality Stadium. This is a wage the Whites couldn't afford in the Championship.

Secondly, according to TEAMtalk, they may need to launch an offer of around £7.5m to convince the Cherries to cash in on him, with the player contracted to the south-coast outfit beyond the end of the summer.

And thirdly, the player would probably need to convince his family to make the move up north if he's to secure a permanent move, so it will be interesting to see whether the Whites attempt to secure his signature on a longer-term basis and whether they are successful in that quest.

Rothwell has been a valuable player for Leeds this season.

He may not have contributed a huge amount in the final third, but that isn't his main task.

The midfielder has helped to keep things ticking over in the middle of the park - and is an excellent squad option to have.

This makes him worth pursuing in the summer, but there's a ceiling to what they should be prepared to spend on him.

He probably won't start regularly next season if Leeds are in the top flight - and that's something the West Yorkshire side will need to consider when weighing up how much they are prepared to spend on him.
