While Milan met with Igli Tare in Rome on Tuesday, the candidacy of Giovanni Sartori hasn’t continued to linger, but Bologna don’t envision him leaving. Their CEO Claudio Fenucci announced it to Corriere dello Sport (via Fantacalcio).
“As far as chatter is concerned, I’ve known him for decades, and I can only say that his seriousness is out of discussion and goes beyond the contracts. We signaled our intention to continue our relationship also to Vincenzo Italiano and his staff. Not only for the results, but for the way he entered the minds of the players. In general, I don’t think there will be problems about the future of our front office.”
Bologna are coming off a tough loss to Atalanta and will duke it out with Inter next.
“We wish to stay focused on the pitch and aren’t worried about our last defeat. The team had a good performance after the early mistakes. These matches are always the most challenging ones since we’re facing the best sides in Serie A. Anyway, the lads have already moved on and are focused on the Nerazzurri.”
Bologna owner Joey Saputo spoke up as he received an award as an ambassador for the city (via La Repubblica).
“When I came here ten years ago, they were talking only about avoiding relegation. It was the primary and essential goal. The fans immediately understood our intentions and never pressured us. I promised that we would lift the club over time, making them proud of us. And it happened. We’re respected on every pitch. It’d be incredible if we played in the Champions League again, but, no matter the competition, our destiny is in Europe now.”
