Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (23) looked on on Wednesday night as Paris Saint-Germain dispatched Manchester City (4-2) at the Parc des Princes, providing a huge boost to their hopes of qualification for the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
Bradley Barcola (22) got on the scoresheet on the night, netting the crucial equaliser on the hour mark. It is a goal that confirms a return to form for the France international, who had struggled to match his start-of-season performances over the course of the past two months.
And it is a timely return to form too. It came just days after Kvaratskhelia was signed for big money from Napoli. The prolific Georgian winger provides a direct threat to Barcola’s position on the left wing, a position that he had made his own since the departure of Kylian Mbapp (26) in the summer.
According to L’Équipe, Barcola was “surprised, to say the least,” to see PSG recruit Kvaratskhelia. The pair, as well as Désiré Doué, also capable of playing on the left wing, are now in competition for the spot.
