Carlo Ancelotti reveals fresh Real Madrid injury blow after win over Leganés | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Wednesday evening revealed a fresh injury concern in his defensive ranks.

Real, of course, are fresh off booking their spot in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.

After making the short trip to Leganés for a quarter-final clash, goals on the part of all of Luka Modrić, Endrick and Gonzalo García guided Los Blancos to a hard-fought 3-2 triumph.

A number of leading members of the Spanish champions’ squad played no part at The Estadio Municipal de Butarque, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Thibaut Courtois and Kylian Mbappé having been afforded the night off.

Also absent was Lucas Vázquez, amid the assumption that the versatile full-back had been afforded a rest ahead of this weekend’s Madrid Derby.

Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s victory on Wednesday, however, Carlo Ancelotti went on to reveal that Vázquez, in fact, has picked up a fitness issue:

“Lucas Vazquez had a problem today and couldn’t play. Now I have a doubt… what to do with Valverde [vs Atlético].”
