Inter Milan’s 2-2 home draw against Bologna on Wednesday night didn’t sit well with veteran defender Matteo Darmian.
During his post-match chat with DAZN via FCInterNews, Darmian admitted there was bitterness in the locker room after the game.
Bologna took an early lead through Inter transfer target Santiago Castro, who turned home Nikola Moro’s attempted shot.
However, the Nerazzurri replied swiftly as Denzel Dumfries pounced on the rebound inside the six-yard box to make it 1-1.
Simone Inzaghi’s charges turned the match on its head on the stroke of halftime.
Indeed, Federico Dimarco picked out Lautaro Martinez with a laser-sharp low cross.
With the goal at his mercy, El Toro was ruthless, handing Inter a halftime lead.
But Emil Holm’s first goal in the Bologna shirt inspired Vincenzo Italiano’s team to a valuable point at the San Siro.
Interestingly, this was the exact scoreline when the sides locked horns in this corresponding fixture last term.
“There’s a bit of bitterness,” he confirmed. “We wanted to take all three points in front of our fans to continue our streak of important results.
“A draw came instead, and now we have to look ahead because there’s another game on Sunday.
“I don’t know what was missing. We’ll analyze the game as always and see where we could’ve done better and where we did well.
“We knew Bologna applies very high pressure, and we lost possession a bit too often.
“However, after conceding the goal, we reacted.
“On the goals we conceded, we were a bit unlucky, but now we must already focus on the next match.”
Despite Inter’s outstanding league form, they’ve yet to complete a comeback this season.
“I don’t know,” Darmian commented on this unwanted trend.
“I can’t give an explanation at this moment. Maybe we can manage certain moments of the game better.
“Over the course of a season, I think a draw like this can happen. We move forward with the same determination to work hard, if not even more.”
Finally, Darmian refused to blame referee Luca Pairetto for refusing to award a penalty to Inter.
“It’s not the time to comment on these things,” he stated. “Pairetto made his decision, and we have to accept it.
“It’s better to talk about the match.”
