Kwakman made his debut for the Alkmaar first team last season and although he made two appearances this term, the move to Groningen promises more game time.
Both clubs have confirmed that Kwakman will play in the Far North until the end of the campaign. He replaces Joey Pelupessy, who has left for Lommel SK in Belgium’s second tier.
Kwakman still has a contract with AZ until the summer of 2028. He played a total of twelve matches for the first team, including three matches in Europe.
Promoted from the Keuken Kampion Divisie last season, Groningen are currently 15th in the Eredivisie and sit just three points above Sparta Rotterdam in the relegation playoff place.
