Liverpool are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Club Brugge’s highly-rated young defender, Joel Ordonez.

Arne Slot didn’t feel the need to add players to an already star-studded squad during the summer window. In fact, apart from Federico Chiesa, Liverpool didn’t add any player to their squad in the current season.

Jurgen Klopp left behind a very good squad for the Dutchman, and Slot has merely tweaked the system to get the best out of these players.

In the summer, it could be a different story. Liverpool will look to strengthen the squad, and several players could be allowed to move on.

In Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, Liverpool have two experienced leaders who are known for their ability to sign the right players.

The defence could be one area where Liverpool might invest next summer, irrespective of what the future holds for Virgil van Dijk or even Ibrahima Konate, who is being targeted by Real Madrid.

Liverpool could allow Joe Gomez to move on after the defender struggled for game time and fitness. With that in mind, the Reds are probably checking on several options, and one of the players who have caught their attention is Ordonez.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Reds scouts have watched him in action this season. The 20-year-old has impressed for Club Brugge in the Champions League, and he is seen as a “gem” of talent.

The Ecuadorian has played all of Club Bruges’ 11 European games, and several top clubs across Europe are keeping a close eye on his progress.
