20 years on from Liverpool’s memorable 2004/05 campaign in which they won the Champions League in dramatic fashion, a rivalry with Chelsea - whom they beat in a rather controversial semi-final second leg at Anfield, will be reignited.
Back in December, the first five players to represent Liverpool legends were revealed.
Goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, the hero in the penalty shootout as the Reds beat AC Milan to clinch European football’s elite prize, signed up alongside fellow representatives from the 2005 final in left-back Djimi Traore and striker Djibril Cisse.
Fabio Aurelio and Robbie Keane were also confirmed at the time. Then a month later, Sander Westerveld, Martin Skrtel, Ragnar Klavan, Mark Gonzalez, Jay Spearing and Dirk Kuyt were added to the squad.
After Sami Hyypia, David James, Bjorn Tore Kvarme, Gregory Vignal, Mohamed Sissoko, Igor Biscan and Florent Sinama Pongolle were among the next batch confirmed to join the Liverpool legends squad, at the beginning of March, it was announced that Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard would feature too.
And now it has been announced that Liverpool Women ambassador and former player Natasha Dowie will make history at Anfield this weekend by becoming the first woman to feature in the annual legends game.

“It’s so exciting for us to include female players in this year’s legends game. We’re the first to do this at club level, we are pioneers, and it’s a big thing for young girls and boys to see this happening,” she said.
“The legends games are something I’ve watched for many years, so to now be involved in one is just going to be incredible. It really is going to be a great occasion and I can’t wait. I’ve been counting down the days!”
