The cool demeanour once presented by Ruben Amorim is starting to fade in Manchester, with the slick Portuguese boss already showing signs of wear amid the size of the job at his disposal.

Branding his team as "maybe the worst" in Manchester United history shows the frustration and pressure is growing, and although Amorim sought to provide clarity ahead of Rangers' visit, such slip-ups are bound to be pounced upon.

After falling to a 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, the Red Devils are aiming to bounce back by securing victory over the Gers which would leave them in a very strong position in the league phase table heading into the final matchday. United currently sit in a top-eight spot, but Rangers are right on their tail.

Here's how United could line up at Old Trafford.

GK: Andre Onana - After committing another error which led to a goal at the weekend, Amorim could take the easy option and turn to Altay Bayindir following his FA Cup heroics. But this is an important game and Onana should get the backing of his boss.

CB: Leny Yoro - Yoro should revert to his preferred side with Amorim set to make one change to his defence from Sunday.

CB: Harry Maguire - With Jonny Evans sidelined and Victor Lindelof not yet ready to return, Maguire is required to sit pretty in the heart of a back three.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - The Argentine was an unused substitute against Brighton, but his return to the fold allows Yoro to shift across to his natural right-side.

RWB: Diogo Dalot - Dalot has played a lot of football this season - far too much in the eyes of many supporters. He seems to be undroppable in the eyes of Amorim, so another start seems likely here.

CM: Manuel Ugarte - Another trusted lieutenant of the manager, Ugarte will duel Rangers' pesky ball-winner Nico Raskin at Old Trafford.

CM: Christian Eriksen - There should be some rotation in the middle of the park after Brighton's success at the weekend. Kobbie Mainoo could drop out in favour of Eriksen, who has produced a couple of big moments in the league phase so far.

LWB: Tyrell Malacia - The Dutch full-back has featured sporadically since returning from a long-term knee injury. With Noussair Mazraoui earning a breather, Malacia may make a rare start.

AM: Amad Diallo - Amad was saving United's bacon against the worst team in the Premier League exactly a week before Thursday's kick-off, but there were no heroics from the spritely Ivorian at the weekend. He's been the star of the Amorim era up to this point.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - Fernandes hasn't been too bad either, and much of his best work, much like United's under the Portuguese coach, has been saved for the biggest occasions. He's yet to score in the league phase, but he netted from the penalty spot on Sunday.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund - After dropping to the bench at the weekend, Hojlund is expected to lead United's line given his impressive record in the Europa League. The young Dane is by far and away their top scorer having bagged five in six.
