Liverpool star Mohamed Salah’s filming session with a camera crew at Albert Dock on Monday was completely unrelated to his contract situation, according to The Athletic journalist James Pearce.
A photograph of the Anfield club hero donning club gear was posted on social media platform X earlier this week, but he was only attending a player appearance for one of Liverpool’s commercial partners.
Salah’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but talks over a contract extension remain ongoing. The Reds hope a compromise that suits both parties can be reached.
The Merseyside club have no plans to replace Salah this summer as they believe an agreement can be secured in the coming weeks. If not, they will need to alter their transfer plans.
Signing a new right-winger capable of producing the same output as Salah could be tricky, and Liverpool manager Arne Slot will desperately hope it does not come to that.
The Dutchman appears to have given up on convincing Trent Alexander-Arnold to stay beyond this season. When his contract ends in the summer, he is expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent.
Captain Virgil van Dijk is also in a similar situation, but Liverpool are hoping he will extend his deal.
They need just 13 points to win the Premier League title this term, having established a 12-point gap at the top of the table after 30 games. Winning it could convince Salah and Van Dijk to commit their futures to the club.
Losing either of them will be a huge blow, given their importance to the team, and the fans are praying that does not happen as Slot looks to make Liverpool more formidable.
