Rennes have signed Jordanian forward Mousa Al-Tamari (27) from Ligue 1 rivals Montpellier HSC, both clubs have announced. Montpellier, despite their perilous league standing, were open to selling Al-Taamari this January with the club mired in financial problems and needing to raise funds. Al-Taamari has put pen to paper over a three-and-a-half-year deal with Rennes. Rennes and Montpellier reportedly found an agreement over an €8m transfer fee.
Rennes are on a transfer spree this winter window. Les Rouge et Noir have already signed Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba, Al-Nassr midfielder Seko Fofana, Brest centre-back Lilian Brassier, Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi and Stuttgart centre-back Anthony Rouault. Rennes are also expected to secure more deadline-day deals for Cercle Brugge winger Kazeem Olaigbe, Hellas Verona midfielder Ayanda Sishuba and Marseille midfielder Ismaël Koné on loan.
