Real Madrid are exploring a move to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson this summer (h/t Marca).
Los Blancos have already made moves in the transfer market, securing the signings of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.
They are also in talks to sign Benfica left-back Alvaro Carreras as they look to provide new manager Xabi Alonso with the necessary resources ahead of the Club World Cup.
The Spanish giants are also looking to bolster the midfield, identifying Larsson as a top target.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe following his stellar performances for Frankfurt.
He has been the bedrock of Dino Toppmoller’s side this season, featuring in 47 games in all competitions and helping them secure Champions League qualification.
Larsson is expected to follow in the footsteps of Omar Marmoush, who sealed a move from Frankfurt to Manchester City for €70 million in January.
The Swedish midfielder is valued at €40m. However, the price could increase with a host of European giants in the mix to sign him.
Premier League giants Man City and Liverpool have already expressed their interest in Larsson, with Madrid now joining the hunt.
The Swedish talent is an all-round midfielder who excels in many facets of the game, such as defending, controlling the tempo, passing and playmaking.
Larsson has been deployed as one of the double pivots at Frankfurt. It could help him easily adapt to Madrid since Alonso is expected to deploy a 3-4-2-1 system, which he used at Leverkusen.
Madrid are looking to make a big impact in the Club World Cup following a disastrous 2024/25 season, where they finished trophyless.
