France U-21 manager Gérard Baticle has announced an expanded 29-strong squad for a training camp ahead of the U-21 Euros. France have qualified for the tournament, which will take place next month in Slovakia. Les Bleuets will face Portugal on Wednesday, June 11st before locking horns with Georgia and Poland in Group C. The France U-21 squad will convene next Monday at Clairefontaine for a training camp. Before flying off to Slovakia, France will play a final friendly game against Ukbekistan on Wednesday, June 4th.
Among the players called up by Baticle, some of them would not have looked totally out of place within Didier Deschamps’ senior squad. Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Hugo Ekitiké is among them. RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba, who once featured for France’s senior side, has also made the cut.
