Chelsea are keen on signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer, according to RMC Sport.
The Blues are in the market for a new centre-forward, and their interest in the France Under-21 international is high.
Ekitike has bounced back from a poor spell at Paris Saint-Germain, bagging 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances this term.
The 22-year-old spearheaded Frankfurt into the Champions League but is ready to leave Deutsche Bank Park.
Die Adler want around €100 million to let him go, with PSG receiving one-fifth of any fee.
Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested, but the Blues seem more keen on the Frankfurt ace.
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has struggled this season, scoring just 10 goals despite starting the campaign well.
However, if the Blues are looking for an upgrade on Jackson, Ekitike should not be their priority in the summer transfer window.
Ekitike is stylistically similar to Jackson. Chelsea should be looking for a box presence, but are seemingly looking at another centre-forward who does his best work outside it.
For a team that crosses so much, they should be in the market for someone to get on the end of these crosses to convert them.
Chelsea are looking at a player who has attempted only one more headed effort than Jackson in the league this season.
They have enjoyed success with battering ram strikers, and Ekitike does not fit the profile of what the club needs.
The Blues should target Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is cheaper, more experienced and clinical.
The Nigerian international is miles better in the air and can pair with Jackson for more firepower. He has led two teams to league titles and his nation to the African Cup of Nations final.
That is the calibre of striker the Blues should be after this summer. It makes better sense than another big-money gamble on a young striker.
